Bug Description

Binary package hint: libsvn-dev

The following symlink is missing in /usr/lib

libsvn_ra_dav-1.so -> libsvn_ra_neon-1.so.1

Causes failure in compiling programs which link using -lsvn_ra_dav-1 e.g. compilation of subcommander2 beta 4.

The symlinks are missing in both Hardy and Intrepid

I also experienced this issue while compiling subcommaner 1.2.3 (because I'm having issues with subcommander2 - see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/subcommander/+bug/389915).

The link can be created by executing the following command in a terminal (handy to copy-paste and avoid typos; with this command it worked to install subcommander 1.2.3):
sudo cp -l /usr/lib/libsvn_ra_neon-1.so.1 /usr/lib/libsvn_ra_dav-1.so

I am uncertain that this is actually a bug. IIUC, libsvn_ra_dav was never intended as a public interface.

This was "fixed" in 1.5.1dfsg1-1, but Max is right that nothing should have been using that anyway. Since then use of neon has been dropped in favor of serf and (hopefully) other software has been fixed to use the public APIs.
