Bug Description

Binary package hint: stellarium

As you can see in the enclosed image, stellarium has a rather strange rendering of the landscape. I remember, that when I used it about two Ubuntu releases ago, this was not the case.

Perhaps I should add info on my graphics hardware: I have a nvdidia Geforce 9600 gt, and use the proprietary nvidia driver version 270.30

This is a duplicate of a fixed upstream bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/stellarium/+bug/657455

As a workaround try starting Stellarium with the following command from a terminal:
LC_NUMERIC=C stellarium

You can make a simple script starting Stellarium in this way and use it as a shortcut on your desktop.

This solves the issue. Do you think it would be difficult to include the fix in the release candidate? Also because it is one of the suggested apps in the software center, so it is probable that many users will run into this bug
