Bug Description

Debian has a newer version of steam packaging available, let's merge the changes into the Ubuntu version to bring us back into sync.

Community testing of the package has been performed via discourse here https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/call-for-testing-steam-in-hirsute-hippo/19714

Steam 1.0.0.67-3 is now available in Debian sid.

Also, this MR will have to be merged in Debian to allow the steam package autosync (it is currently a downstream Ubuntu patch): https://salsa.debian.org/games-team/steam/-/merge_requests/2 - It may however require some changes (updates from the current AppData file used in Ubuntu) first before merging. Any chance that you could do this, Andrew? :-)

Yup, I saw that 1.0.0.67-3 is now in Debian sid, as we have already community tested and prepared 1.0.0.67-2 I propose to submit this (it's just waiting for people to return from holidays so that it can be uploaded hopefully in early January), then in around February before the freezes for hirsute begin I'll do another sync of whatever is in Debian sid.

Note that landing that one merge alone will not allow autosync to be re-enabled as there are further differences between Debian and Ubuntu (eg such as an epoch to the version number, nvidia packaging differences, disabling of dconf questions for software centers etc). So we'll have to keep manually syncing for now.

This bug was fixed in the package steam - 1:1.0.0.67-2ubuntu1

---------------
steam (1:1.0.0.67-2ubuntu1) hirsute; urgency=medium

  * Merge from Debian Sid (LP: #1901689), remaining changes:
    - Add an epoch to the version number.
    - Add steam-installer package that depends on steam and contains
appstream metadata to allow Steam to be installed via appsteam enabled
      software centers.
    - Drop debian/steam.preinst because the dconf question it is not supported
      by all software centers.
    - Modify template-helper script for Ubuntu.
    - Modify debian/steam.bug-control for Ubuntu.
    - Disable copyright-helper script in debian/rules.
    - Nvidia packaging differences to Debian.
  * debian/control: use >= for the version depends on steam from the
steam-installer package otherwise lintian fails with
    not-binnmuable-all-depends-any.

Thanks for the Steam update! :-)

By the way, Andrew, could you also take a look at this comment about merging steam-installer into Debian from Simon McVittie and if possible answer his questions: https://salsa.debian.org/games-team/steam/-/merge_requests/2#note_209734 ? Thanks!
