Bug Description
Please add Recommends: dbus-x11 (or maybe Suggests:) to the steam packaging.
I was trying for months to figure out why steam wouldn't show a notification tray icon or application indicator on my new xubuntu installation, when it worked fine on my old installation. I discovered today that installing the dbus-x11 package fixes it. Perhaps that package is usually pulled in by some other dependency in a default desktop installation, but on my minimal system, it wasn't.
