Bug Description

The preinst script has a bug that prevents the package from installing non-interactively even when the administrator has preseeded the debconf answers needed by the package. This bug has been fixed in Debian #772598, steam version 1.0.0.50-1.

Full bug description and patch can be found at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=772598

Can confirm this. I have a post-installation script which has the following lines:

echo "steam steam/purge note" | sudo debconf-set-selections
echo "steam steam/license note" | sudo debconf-set-selections
echo "steam steam/question select I AGREE" | sudo debconf-set-selections
sudo apt install -y steam

This bug is present in steam 16.04 LTS multiverse package 1:1.0.0.48-1ubuntu3. Debian (stretch/testing) has 1.0.0.52 which is the same version that Valve offers. This bug should be fixed there.
