Bug Description

Binary package hint: squeak-vm

Apparently the squeak-vm does not support unicode-input. Running any squeak-image with startsqueak or directly from within a terminal with 'squeak path/to/image', I'm unable to typeset special characters like the German 'ä' or 'ß' within the image. This ist not a fault of teh image, since everything works fine with old Linuxes like SuSE 9.1.

'squeak -encoding ISO-8859-1 ...' or 'squeak -encoding UTF-8 ...' changes the characters shown instead of what I'd like to be printed on the screen, doesn't solve the problem though.

ubuntu-versions: dapper, edgy

By the way: squeak obviously doesn't understand the commandline-option '-swapbtn' mentioned in the man-pages any more

thx

Markus.

'-swapbtn' works - I missed that I had to use also '-vm-display-X11'. Sorry, my fault.

Somehow this problem seems to be specific to my notebook. Tried the same on several other machines running dapper and feisty, but couldn't reproduce the problem there. No idea, wha's wrong with my configuration.

One reason might be, that these other machines are all using evdev-drivers for the keyboard whereas mine uses the kbd-driver. Reasonable?
