Bug Description

The squashfs-tools package includes 3rd party manpages dating back to 2012, however in the meantime the upstream squashfs-tools project has created it's own manpages which are more up to date. (For instance, the squashfs-tools supports more compression algorithms than mentioned in the current manpages, but are mentioned in the upstream manpages.)

squashfs-tools only introduced the manpages upstream in version 4.5 - and the Ubuntu releases that ship squashfs-tools >= 4.5 use these upstream manpages. Can you describe what Ubuntu releases and squashfs-tools versions you are referring to?

This is squashfs-tools 1:4.5-3build1 on Ubuntu 22.04. It contains the old manpages for mksquashfs and unsquashfs, and the manpages for sqfscat and sqfstar are missing (which are present in upstream).

FYI these manpages are not present on the upstream 4.5 release - https://github.com/plougher/squashfs-tools/tree/4.5 - only in 4.5.1 and onwards - so there is no divergence from the upstream release in Ubuntu.

Oh, I didn't realize the upstream manpages were that new. Still, would be nice if these could be backported to the version in 22.04 LTS.
