Bug Description

Spyder has become a significant piece of software in the scientific community, providing an IDE with a familiar, MATLAB-like, interface.

Amongst the improvements in the recent 2.3 release, support for Python 3 is a significant milestone. I believe this alone makes the release worth backporting, since most scientific workstation running Linux use LTS releases these days.

Backports requests are filed against the backports project, not the requested Ubuntu package. Someone will need to verify that this package builds/installs/runs on trusty. Once that's done, the backport won't take long.

More votes won't get this done faster. Doing the testing is all that matters.

status: Confirmed → Invalid

importance: Undecided → Wishlist
