Guys my intention was to install usplash from debian sid repos. So I did remove ubuntus splashy and tried to install usplash but with no success due to above mentioned "dpkg and lsb init" error I repeat the installtation was incomplete, but inspite I that I have a working ubuntu splashy even though after run level 2 where out put tells what startprograms (such as firestarter) are being stopped.
