Bug Description

When converting multiple files at once, the status bar on the bottom does not update to display the current file being converted, and the progress bar is stuck. Overall the application is frozen although in the background the conversion is taking place.

I think this is related to #940648.

I have the same issue but the conversion does NOT continue to take place in the background.
Once or twice I have had the first file convert only as in #940648.
It seems to vary depending on how much you feed it basically.

This error is not in 1.54 but seems to have arrived with the earliest versions of 2.0.
I suspect it is something to do with how it is calculating the total time remaining but I could be wrong.
I don't think it likes encoding more than a certain number of minutes.

As you say it is happy if you just feed it say two folders.

This could be depending on how soundconverter is started. It seems to be reproduceable like this:
- Start soundconverter
- Add directory with many subdirectories (not sure if the number matters, I just have many)
- Start conversion
- Cancel conversion after some time (probably right away is also ok)
- Start conversion. When asked what to do with already existing, select for complete queue and select skip
- Soundconverter then shows the words "Preparing conversion" but no progress of the bar is shown. Conversion takes place though. Terminal says: Queue start: 3789 tasks, 6 thread(s).

Maybe this helps nailing down the issue...

Same as comment #1 - I add the folder with hundreds of sub-folders (around 350 albums in total, converting to VBR MP3 from FLAC), it processed the files quickly, takes about 30 minutes to process the tags, then hangs without converting a single file. I left it overnight, around 11 hours total, to see no change, no files written.

I can, however, feed the same directories around 30 at a time and it will complete that process in around 20 minutes per batch. Of course, that means manually repeating this process around 12 or 13 times. Tedious, but it works - I'm battering through them at the moment.

Same issue with version 2.0.1 (version from ubuntu 12.10). I have a directory structure like this :
Music/Artist/Album
If I try to convert the whole Music directory, it works fine if all together, I've got only a few albums.
But as soon as I have too many, there are loading fine but when I hit the start convertion, it hangs forever with 100% CPU usage.
