Bug Description
Binary package hint: soundconverter
On Edgy, installed soundconverter using aptitude. Started it and selected an mp3 file and started to convert. It finished in 0 seconds in and had a zero-sized file as output.

Do you, perchance, not have gstreamer0. 10-plugins- ugly installed?
