soundconverter converts,but output contains no data

Iam using ubuntu8.1 version.I recently installed sound converter from synaptic.But the problem is that it converts in 0 seconds and the out put file contains no data. When add files the sound converter window shows no tags.Please help me.The source package -Soundconverter 1.3.2-0ubuntu1(source) in ubuntu interpid

I had the same problem but have found no solution. Except in my case, some .flv files work and others don't. I can't find any obvious difference between the ones that work and the ones that don't. What's worse, mplayer doesn't convert .flv files anymore either!

I was experiencing this exact behavior converting a set of wav files (recently ripped from a CD). It turned out that the wav files themselves had some issues related to 8.10. They only played in mplayer & VLC, for example.

After using sox to create new copies of the files and soundconverter worked properly on the new copies. Perhaps it's an issue with the source files?

Converts for me, no problem anymore.
SoundConverter 1.4.4, using Gstreamer version: 0.10.29, Python binding version: 0.10.18.
