Bug Description

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

When playing back a CD in the CDROM drive, every 12-13 seconds, Sound Juicer seems to skip approximately 3 seconds of audio. For example, audio will play fine from 0:00 to 0:12 with the elapsed time counter at the bottom left counting smoothly. Then audio will drop out for a few seconds, the counter will pause, and resume at 0:15.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/sound-juicer
Package: sound-juicer 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: sound-juicer
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic x86_64

I'm experiencing the same problem with Xubuntu 9.04, Sound Juicer 2.26.1

Each time after about 10 seconds the drive spins up (to read new data into buffer), but doesn't seem to complete this in time. This results in skipping for approx. 0.5 to 1 second.

Suggested solution could be to start reading data into the mem buffer a bit earlier.

I can confirm the problem under Ubuntustudio 9.04, Linux 2.6.28-15-generic, GNOME 2.26.1, C2D P8600.
The bug isn't related to SoundJuicer because Rhythmbox does the same.
