went to next tab, "other software". it had ADD CDROM but it said "waiting for disk..." and another message "Please insert a disk in the drive" i had the file browser open showing the files on the disk. so i clicked OK and i got "error scanning the CD", "E:Failed to mount the cdrom."
if these functions are supposed to work, then its a bug, if not, and i am supposed to use the command line, then remove the stuff that doesnt work. im a bit heated over the diifficulties in this OS forgive my unhappiness... now i have to download all the stuff i want...

the methods of adding repositories do seem to be a little limited, i asked a question about using saved items as a source of files in other installations and was given an answer that i have to create a repository for my items i have (but one good thing is that it does allow saving of the latest version) however it does seem to be an extra step, rather than just choosing the directory and going with it, even adding files whenever i wish, even from other distros which is what i did in suse (although it i have the feeling that if i didnt have the index from packman for example, i wouldnt be able to use any of the items).
