add-apt-repository should not trash my whitespace in sources.list

Bug Description
My sources.list is manually managed, and has fields aligned on columns for readability in an editor.
Given that add-apt-repository adds the new repository to a new file in sources.list.d/, it really shouldn't mangle my carefully arranged whitespace in sources.list.
