Sounds like one of the bugs Amichai fixed in Kubuntu 10.04. Subscribing him since hopefully he'll know which bug to mark this as a dupe of.

affects: python2.6 (Ubuntu) → software-properties (Ubuntu)

Dave - can you please attach your /etc/apt/sources.list file? There's a non-English character in there somewhere triggering this bug, and I'd like to try and recreate it so that I can tell for sure if this was indeed fixed or not.

I provided the information requested, but must have put it or sent it to the wrong place or person. Here's the message I sent and the text of the sources.list file:

Shoot - thanks - should have spotted that based on the other bug reports. sources.list attached - the non-English characters are at the end of the third line.

Thanks for the info Dave!

While I can't tell what the question marks in the pasted sources.list stand for (an attachment would be preferred next time), I've tested this by inserting arbitrary non-latin unicode characters in their place, and this indeed seems to be fixed on Lucid.

If you manage to recreate this on Lucid using your specific sources.list, please feel free to reopen this issue.
