Bug Description
"Third-Party software" is arguably unnecessarily difficult for some end users to understand. "Other Software" may be clearer.
(Also note that the term "third party" raises the question who is the first party, and who is the second, answers to which may not be self-evident to all users, thus calling into question the term in the first place.)
I raised this issue on ubuntu-docs list, and Matthew East agreed. However, Matthew said docs need to follow SW and I should get that buy-in & change first.
So I've pushed a bzr branch in which I changed the .glade the .ui and the po files:
lp:~knitzsche/+junk/software-properties-gtk-third_party
Given that Sept 10 is the user interface freeze, there should still be time for this in Karmic, including the implied follow-on translation and ubuntu doc work.

Yes, I see third-party in Add/Remove. It should be consistent. I will ping the desktop team and see if they have a suggestion.

I created bug 422756 to track same terminology change in Add/Remove (gnome-app-install)
I can definitely see that "Third-Party" is not a particularly helpful phrase to use here, although I'm not sure that "Other" is a better option. The phrase might be used in plenty of places (it's currently in Add/Remove) and I think it's worth consulting with the desktop team about what the best way to resolve this issue is.
