Bug Description
After distribution upgrade from hardy to jaunty (amd64 here), it is no longer possible to save the auto-upgrade/
System:

Fixed
Resolution: conf.d/ 10periodic. conf.d/ 20auto- upgrades, perhaps a remnant of an older version of the updater's instrumentation.
Auto-update settings are kept in /etc/apt.
There was also /etc/apt.
Removing the 20auto-upgrades file restores the desired behaviour.
Perhaps it would make sense to remove/rename the 20auto-upgrades file in the post-install hook?
