[8.04] Can't enable security updates

Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron)
apt 0.7.9ubuntu17

What happens:
* When I go into 'System > Software Sources > Updates' the item 'Important security updates (hardy-security)' is not checked (ticked)
* When I try to check (tick) it the field turns orange for as long as I am clicking but goes back to the unselected state as soon as I let go.

What I expected;
* That hardy-security is enabled by default (this may be true, but isn't for me right now)
* That I can re-enable it if it has been disabled for some reason.

My source.list shows that hardy-security is enabled several times:

deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy-security restricted main multiverse universe

The attached file is /etc/apt/source.list, but now I'm not even sure if it's in use as when I double click on it from the desktop I am invited to use the list to replace or add to my repositories list ??!! Huh?

Thanks for reporting this bug. I have assigned it to the software-properties-gtk package. I have tested your source.list extract and that works OK for me. Please could you attach your complete source.list file to this report.

Yup, same behaviour here... Although, somewhat different sources.list.

The only security concerning entry i got is
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy-security restricted main multiverse universe

Something has solved the issue of the uncheckeable box issue for me.

No, still there. But I just discovered the security entry in the "Third Party Software" Tab of the GUI sources application... And if I delete it, it gets recreated there.

Suddenly it works again, here, too. No clue what solved it, but the problem is gone!
