Bug Description

We're looking at moving to GNOME Software + PackageKit in Ubuntu. This means dropping support for aptdaemon. This means software-properties needs to work with PackageKit.

There was a bug with a proof of concept patch sent to Debian some years ago on https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=730807 it's not something we can use directly but could be a good inspiration

We're going to keep aptdaemon around, so this is not required.
