Bug Description

When using "add-apt-repsitory -y", the PPA is added even if it doesn't exist even though an error message is displayed. "-y" should "Assume yes to all queries" like its help says, but not if there's an error.

This does not occur when using "add-apt-repository" without "-y".

Here's an example:

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:fred/ppa
Error reading https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~fred/+archive/ppa: Not Found

Then looking in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 120 Nov 13 20:59 fred-ppa-quantal.list

Changed in software-properties (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Undecided → Medium
