To reproduce:
- open a debfile with software-center
- while its loading, close it
-> crash (but happens only every 5 attempts or so)

i was installing skype ,and i got this error .
i usualy use gdebi.

I opened a deb package (artha), saw that it's now in the repos, and closed software-center. (I prefer to use synaptic, which I opened more or less straight away.) The crash message happened about 30 seconds later or more. Apart from getting the notification, nothing obviously wrong appeared to have happened.
