Bug Description

Ubuntu Software Center 4.1.23.3, Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2

1. Start up into an Ubuntu live session.
2. Launch Ubuntu Software Center.
3. Navigate to the screen for GVim, and choose "Install".

What happens: A progress bar appears for a few seconds, and then the "Install" button returns. GVim is not installed.

What should happen: Not sure yet. Probably some sort of explanation that you need to install Ubuntu before installing software.

Removing software does work in the live session.

Hi mpt, have you by chance checked to see if this is still a problem in Precise? Please let us know, and then update the status accordingly.

Thanks!

I have tried to reproduce this in a Ringtail VM, but USC runs out of memory and crashes before getting to the point where it installs anything. (gi._glib.GError: Failed to fork (Cannot allocate memory))
