Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

USC crashed simply after opening the app... Ubuntu 11.10 beta1.

USC Crashes and a crash report is generated, however the application continues to run. Only the installer section causes a crash. The other sections do not produce any errors.

This bug is definitely not fixed. Recently installed 11.10 beta 1, and immediately updated and updated everything, as that's my usual course of action when installing Ubuntu. I run apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, and apt-get dist-upgrade, nothing new to be updated or upgraded. My Ubuntu Software Center version is 4.1.22, and it just crashed and Firefox opened and took me to this page.

I'd be more than willing to provide any additional information, but just wanted to let whoever made the last commit and close this bug report, that it is infact, NOT fixed.

Hi Mike, thanks very much for reporting back on this. This one is a little bit mysterious because I believe it should no longer be possible to get this error stacktrace after the change that was made if software-center 4.1.22 for this fix. If you don't mind, could you please attach your software-center log file to this bug as it will hopefully contain the information we need to figure out exactly what's happening. The log file can be found at:

We'll get to the bottom if this. Thanks again, your help is much appreciated!
