Bug Description

I'm purchased computer game "Uplink" through Ubuntu Software Center and when downloading is began, the message appeared: "W:Failed to fetch https://private-ppa.launchpad.net/commercial-ppa-uploaders/uplink/ubuntu/dists/natty/main/binary-i386/Packages SSL connection timeout at 117815, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead." I'm trying to download this game once again, a lot of times, but it doesn't any effects - same message appeared. In the same time, my internet connection is fine, except for attempts to check for updates by way of Update manager.
Switch between servers also not conceived any results. Somebody help?

Thanks for your bugreport and sorry for the late reply.

This message indicates that you get a SSL timeout after 117 seconds. This may either be a problem with launchpad that it can provide the SSL handshake fast enough or some issue with your network (or the networks in between) that interfere with the SSL connection handshake.

Could you please run (in a terminal):
$ sudo apt-get update -o Debug::acquire::https=true 2>&1 | sed 's/Authorization:.*/Authorization: xxx/' > /tmp/log

and attach the file /tmp/log to this report?

Thanks,
 Michael

Since there is currently no fix for this, I should point out that customer support can offer a refund if necessary. The details are here:
