Software Center fails to install .deb files

Binary package hint: software-center

Trying to install .deb files Software-center starts the installation process, but then cancels. The "install" button doesn't change and the package isn't installed. So i have to use dpkg -i <package> to install something.

Same problem here. Linux-image package doesn't work, skype package doesn't work. In fact nothing ever worked so far for me.

And that's the same on my three Natty computers.
