software-center crashed with TypeError in __getitem__(): 'NoneType' object is not subscriptable

Downloaded the latest Opera snapshot (http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2011/01/26/opera-11-01-rc2), double clicked it to upgrade the pre-existing install and the software center generated a crash.
