Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

Downloaded the latest Opera snapshot (http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2011/01/26/opera-11-01-rc2), double clicked it to upgrade the pre-existing install and the software center generated a crash.

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu natty (development branch)
Release: 11.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center
software-center:
  Installed: 3.1.10
  Candidate: 3.1.10
  Version table:
 *** 3.1.10 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What you expected to happen
Software center should open without generating a crash.

4) What happened instead
I was alerted that software center crashed, but was still about to click upgrade and install as expected.
