authenticate fails

Bug Description

Release information:
Description: Ubuntu 10.10
Release: 10.10

Additional Info: 64-bit, Fresh Installation from CD.

I am unable to identify the package that is performing this bug.

What is expected to happen:
After typing in password to authenticate, all windows close and action proceeds normally.

What happened instead:
After typing in password to authenticate, password window closes, but authenticate window remains open. "Cancel" and "Authenticate" buttons clan be clicked, but nothing happens. If I click the "X" at the top, the window closes and the action proceeds normally. However, some people are saying that clicking the "X" closes the window, but nothing happens.
