Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

The package evolution-dataserver has other packages that depend on it: gnome-panel, gnome-session etc. When removing the package in software-center, the software-center does not notify about removing these packages, nor does it disallow removing them. Thus the end result of removing this is a "naked" x session with only xterm after the restart.

Eugene, as far as I know, there is a dialog that warns you about items that will be removed if you remove a given package, but it may not be in Lucid. Are you on Lucid or Maverick?

I'm on Lucid. Sorry, forgot to mention. The dialog warns about some of the items, gnome-session and gnome-panel are not on the list as well as a few other packages. Also, it might be a good idea to mark these gnome packages as essential. So that users who don't know what these packages do, don't accidentally remove them. Those who really do want to get rid of these packages can always forcefully remove them.
