opening software center consumes a bit of memory,
installed a piece of software and it consumes 100MB more memory,
after 12 installed applications this is a serious number.
after closing the software center the memory is freed again.

Thanks for this report, Undifined, and sorry for the ridiculously slow response.

I just tried this in USC 4.1.22, and could not reproduce the problem. Installing the first six applications from the "Education" category, waiting to install each until the previous one had finished, memory use (as shown in System Monitor) consistently stayed between 100 MiB and 120 MiB.

The code has changed a lot since you reported the bug, so it's quite possible the problem has been fixed anyway. If you still experience it, please reopen this report with more specific steps to reproduce the problem. Thanks.
