software-center trunk r1026, Ubuntu Maverick
Ubuntu Software Center 5.4.1.2, Ubuntu 12.10
1. Navigate directly (not via Back/Forward) to the screen for a software item that isn't installed, e.g. HomeBank.
2. Press Up and Down.
3. Press Shift+Tab, then press Up and Down again.
4. Press Shift+Tab, then press Up and Down again.
5. Press Shift+Tab, then press Up and Down again.
What happens in 5.4.1.2:
1. The "Install" button is focused by default.
2. The screen scrolls up and down.
3. The item summary is selected. The screen scrolls up and down.
4. The item title is selected. The screen scrolls up and down.
5. The item title remains selected. Scrolling no longer works.
What should happen:
5. If there is something before the item title that should get focused, it should have a focus ring when focused. And scrolling with the keyboard should still work unless that thing obviously uses the Up and Down keys for something else.
<kiwinote> mpt: the invisible item is the a11y text for the title and the [summary]
<kiwinote> mpt: do I understand correctly that you want a focus ring around the title and description?
<mpt> kiwinote, no. :-)
...
<mpt> kiwinote, and I guess the invisible item after the "Install" button is the full description?
<kiwinote> yep
...
<mpt> kiwinote, I really don't know what to do about that then. We don't want to make it inaccessible, and it would look ugly with a focus ring around a lot of text, but it is weird that focus disappears.
