Binary package hint: software-store
Looking at the 'Get free software' part of the software store, each application is split into categories (ie. Education, Other etc.). I think that this same categorising method should be used for 'Installed software' to make it easier to browse through.

The "Installed Software" section is long and not easy to browse through. It is not categorized, as "Get Free Software" is.
