Hi,
thank you for your report and your help to make Ubuntu better.
The logs not really point to anything obvious.
If anything then a few debconf messages and some about simulating apt transactions (from software center).

I just tried to install on a similar environment and it worked as expected.

I'm not sure if there might be an issue with the software center hiding/consuming messages that don't show up in this report then.
Could you try to install it via console by running "apt install clamtk" and let me know if the terminal output adds any more context to the issue that helps to understand it?

status: New → Incomplete

Hi Christian,

definitely an issue with the software-center packages hence
an installation of clamtk, clamav et c. via terminal / console
works like a charm (already tested on various systems).
Other than with the 'random' crashes of the software-center
I can bet on the outcome of an installation via xfce desktop with
software-center(-*)

(At least not as weird as the rare crashes with unspecific error
messages and alsa and / or xfce (or who-knows-what-else is
involved there) issues after the installation of fxcyberjack
(both via terminal or desktop installation)
Even the card-reader manufacturer Reiner sct says indirectly
that fxcyberjack is obselete and I'm getting an idea why... )

This is an unsupported release now. Please think to install the next LTS 'Bionic 18.04'
