Software Center freezes /crashes

When I run the GUI version of software-center, it shows a blank screen except for a few dots in the center in a circular pattern. It freezes, and when I click the "X" in the top left corner to stop, it asks me to force quit.

When I run it from the command line by "software-center" (not as root), the output is:
