Software-center does not ask for root password when needed.

Hi,
As many users, I hate the way we now have to use the software center while it's clearly not yet able to perform its task correctly, in contrary to Synaptic for instance.
When clicking on an “apt”-link in Chromium or Firofex, the software center is opened. OK, even if it's a huge software just to install a small program, why not. But of course the program is launch without admin privileges. It works and we are redirected to the page of the package we want to install. Of course, the next step is to click on the “install” button.
At this point, what any reasonable person would expect is that the software center ask for the root password and install the software. Can you explain to me the reason the software center prefer to display an error “you do not have the privileges”?!?
Is there a way to at least stop using this not-yet-able-to-perform-its-task software by default, waiting for the next release of Ubuntu?
I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to set this software as default, but if the reason was “it's better looking”, it was far from being a good reason.
