Bug Description

unity-lens-shopping is not shown in Software Center. This raises the bar substantially for people who want to remove this feature. I am willing to tolerate Canonical's attempts to raise funds but only if users are left the (accessible) option of abstaining.

Agreed. new user to ubuntu and linux wont know how to uninstall it via command line. so it should be able to uninstall from USC or any other method that is much more easier to new user.

You can find it in Themes & Tweaks -> Dash Search Plugins

As unity-lens-shopping is a package, there is no reason why it shouldn't also be listed in Software Center just as the unity-lens-video and unity-lens-photos.

@susah sebut: The theme tweak thing seems to be part of Ubuntu Tweak or similar. You can still disable online searches by opening the privacy panel from the system settings (just type privacy to the dash and you'll find it).

@Ben: Everything shown by the software centre are based on packages. However, it doesn't show by default "technical packages" like dependencies, -package names ending in -common, etc.

This wasn't an issue when I had the 64bit installed. The shopping lens showed up in the software center. I just reinstalled with 32 bit because I only have 3gig of RAM and no plans on upgrading this machine. The lens no longer shows up in the software center search, or by going to Themes & Tweaks -> Dash Search Plugins. Also, I no longer get the "show x technical results" link at the bottom of the search results.
