Bug Description

As soon as you start to type in a keyword in the search box, after two letters the search routine starts and the keyboard disappears.

Note that if you click the input box again after the first two letters, onboard comes back and allows you to finish typing. I will confirm this, but edit the title a bit. Thanks for taking the time to help out!

I allready figured out that I can just click again in the search box and continue to typing but I think is not how it should be

Thank you for rewriting my reports in a better english. Sorry my english knowledge sucks but I'am working on it. ;-)

I am happy being able to help.

I can reproduce this behavior but as comment#2 mentions simply reselecting the input box again causes onboard to reappear.

I'm not entirely sure if this is expected behavior or not. Will link this with the Onboard folks so we can get some clarification

It seems the search field loses focus to some kind of tab when typing.

Clicking the search field:
At-spi focus event: focused=True, name=Search, role=ATSPI_ROLE_TEXT, editable=True
-> Keyboard shows

Typing one letter and this tab gets the focus:
At-spi focus event: focused=True, name=, role=ATSPI_ROLE_PAGE_TAB, editable=False
-> Keyboard hides, not an editable text entry

Then just moving the pointer to the search field, or tapping on the Nexus, focuses search again:
At-spi focus event: focused=True, name=Search, role=ATSPI_ROLE_TEXT, editable=True
-> Keyboard shows

I can't say much about this tab, except that the role ATSPI_ROLE_PAGE_TAB is the same one Onboard sees when clicking the tab bar in gnome-terminal.

I just tried onboard and software center in 12.10 (amd64) and could not replicate. When typing in SC search with onboard, onboard did NOT hide after each keystroke.

Kyle, I just tried again after updating, and with auto-show enabled it happens here every time, on 12.10 amd64 and arm7l. Typing quickly, I can get a couple of letters in until Onboard hides. If I wait after the first one it happens as well.

To clarify, I believe, for the given input, Onboard does react correctly. I think the software-center devs should have a look at this bug report and, if possible, try to keep the focus on the search box. Last time I didn't realize that software-center wasn't linked, so I'll add them now.

Regarding to comment #5 and comment #6 add quantal tag again. May be I should have had cited them already on the first time.
