Software center is not opening. version is 5.2.6

Bug Description

When run from terminal it says
Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/software-center", line 25,
in <module> from gi.repository import Gtk, GObject
 ImportError: No module named gi.repository

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/update-manager", line 26, in <module>
    from gi.repository import Gtk
ImportError: No module named gi.repository

Same thing happens to me in 2013.

Several solutions found on the web do not work.

Can I fix this without reinstalling the whole system?
