I see that the game I was trying to download, Wizorb is now a part of the humble indie bundle which I have also purchased through the Software Center. This may or may not have something to do with it.

Hello Jarlath, thank you for your report and I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue. The error that you are seeing affects a small percentage of credit card authorization services, and unfortunately, it appears that your credit card is one of those affected.

This is an active bug already, bug 1043011, and I will mark this one as a duplicate of that one. Please monitor bug 1043011 for the status of a fix for this, and to add any additional info or comments that you may have.

In the meantime until we get this bug fixed, and if you like, you could instead use the PayPal option for payment. Using that option you can pay with your credit card and you will bypass this issue.

Many thanks again for your help!
Gary

Hi Gary,

I purchases Linux Format only a week ago with the same card, in case that
changes anything.

Thanks for responding.

Hi Jarlath, hmm, indeed, the bug was there last week and has been there for a while before that, so I'm not sure why a card that worked last week would stop working. Now, it consistently fails with this SSL handshake error? Well, it may be that the card processing site has changed its certificate chain in the meantime, but that seems highly unlikely.

Maybe you might try again and see if it works? I wonder if it might have been a temporary issue.

Yeah, I made my last purchase september 18th and the bug is over two weeks
older than that.

I tried again today and I get the same result.
