ubuntu software center won't start (window shows up and quits quickly)

Bug Description

Tried the following but none of them worked:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --reinstall software-center
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install python-simplejson

Would greatly apreciate it if the answer gets emailed to me <email address hidden>

What happens when you run 'software-center' in a terminal?

Samething happens! The application window pops up for one or two seconds than closes. In the terminal several lines of messages appear (probably too long to copy in this message box). Especially, this erros message is repeated 3 times:

AttributeError: 'ProgressBar' object has no attribute 'set_data'

This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 1000238, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Please continue to report any other bugs you may find.

Note that this bug has a fix and will be released into Quantal very soon. Many thanks for your help!
