Sockstat doesn't work at all in ubuntu 13.10

Bug Description
fresh install of ubuntu 13.10.
installed sockstat.
when opening terminal and inputting command "sudo watch sockstat" nothing is output. Terminal changes appearance like Sockstat is running but no sockets are ever reported.
The following apps are able to report open and listening sockets just fine (unlike Sockstat):
netstat -punta
lsof -i -n -P +c 0
Sockstat works fine on Ubuntu 12.04. But will not work at all on ubuntu 13.04 or 13.10. I have not tried sockstat on ubuntu 12.10.
