Bug Description

Binary package hint: snort

The asking for interfaces and home net present in the snort package are not part of the snort-mysql package. The installation overwrites /etc/snort/snort.debian.conf Since it doesn't ask what interfaces to bind to and overwrites any previous config, the package will fail to install correctly if eth0 isn't a valid interface (as the snort daemon will not start).

I can confirm this issue, snort fails to install when eth0 doesn't exist.

It happens on 14.04 too. For example, with Dell R220, when the interfaces are em1, em2. Here is a workaround: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snort/+question/262496
