Bug Description

On boot the contents of seeds.yaml are:

 cat /var/lib/snapd/seed/seed.yaml
snaps:
  -
    name: core
    channel: stable
    file: core_4917.snap
  -
    name: gnome-3-26-1604
    channel: stable/ubuntu-18.10
    file: gnome-3-26-1604_70.snap
  -
    name: gnome-calculator
    channel: stable/ubuntu-18.10
    file: gnome-calculator_180.snap
  -
    name: gnome-characters
    channel: stable/ubuntu-18.10
    file: gnome-characters_103.snap
  -
    name: gnome-logs
    channel: stable/ubuntu-18.10
    file: gnome-logs_37.snap
  -
    name: gnome-system-monitor
    channel: stable/ubuntu-18.10
    file: gnome-system-monitor_51.snap
  -
    name: gtk-common-themes
    channel: stable/ubuntu-18.10
    file: gtk-common-themes_319.snap

but the available snaps are just:

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ snap list
Name Version Rev Tracking Publisher Notes
core 16-2.33.1 4917 stable canonical core
gnome-3-26-1604 3.26.0 70 stable/… canonical -
gnome-calculator 3.28.2 180 stable/… canonical -

(I don't think that the calculator is usable anyway)

If the contents of seeds.yaml are re-ordered so that gtk-common-themes is initialised much earlier then the available snaps are (once the snap services restarted):

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ snap list
Name Version Rev Tracking Publisher Notes
core 16-2.33.1 4917 stable canonical core
gnome-3-26-1604 3.26.0 70 stable/… canonical -
gnome-calculator 3.28.2 180 stable/… canonical -
gnome-characters 3.28.2 103 stable/… canonical -
gnome-logs 3.28.2 37 stable/… canonical -
gnome-system-monitor 3.28.2 51 stable/… canonical -
gtk-common-themes 0.1 319 stable/… canonical -

This is obviously what is intended to be the default snap installation.

This is a follow up to bug 1772844 which implies that the issue has been addressed but is still a problem in the daily cosmic ISOs.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in snapd (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

This is currently intentional (for cosmic only), please see:

snapd 2.35.1+18.10 has not fixed the problem
