Bug Description

I have a ubuntu desktop 14.04 and did:
sudo apt-get install snap

Then I tried to login (snap login <email address hidden>) and intall something (snap install hello)
Both commands gave me this error:
ZOE ERROR (from /usr/lib/snap/snap): error opening parameter file
ZOE library version 2006-07-28

Any clues?

Ubuntu 14.04 doesn't contain snapd (note the difference in the package name, snapd vs snap). Please consider upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04

We definitely want snapd on 14.04 though so let's keep the bug open :)

snapd is available in 14.04 now via `sudo apt install snapd`. However a seccomp issue with bpf on 64 bit systems (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snap-confine/+bug/1653487) blocks the build on amd64 currently :/

Changed in snappy:
status: New → Invalid
Changed in snapd (Ubuntu):
status: Confirmed → In Progress
importance: Undecided → Medium
importance: Medium → High

re #5, I don't see snapd in trusty yet. It's in trusty-proposed via bug 1656382. The current version put forth in there is uninstallable in trusty, though and it seems getting snapd into trusty will be a struggle.
