Bug Description
From what I can tell, the power jump does not seem to work at least in Trusty.

I do get the stars on the shoes but when I jump it is the same height as always.

Hello,
Same problem here.
In fact, I no longer run Trusty on bare metal ; instead, I run up-to-date 64bit Trusty userland in a chroot on up-to-date 64bit Yakkety.
The game is playable, except for this exact same power jump sequence/combo.
