sl-modem-daemon in multiverse: not good

Bug Description

Binary package hint: sl-modem-daemon

Because the sl-modem-daemon is on multiverse (Dapper and all other releases), the user (who is already frustrated and overwhelmed by winmodem issues) needs to have magical network connection and needs to figure out that s/he should enable multiverse in order to install this.

Is it possible to move the daemon to either the install cd (ideal) or the main repo? install cd would be ideal, bc a winmodem user will most probably have no network connection and hence need a networked computer available (most probably, s/he will need to dual boot with Windows or have access to a Windows PC) in order to access packages.ubuntu.com

If this is bc of legal reasons, I apologize in advance.

Apologies but yes, sl-modem is in multiverse for licensing reasons. You might want to check out the following spec related to this issue.

Thank you.

I "filed" that, but I don't know what to do next with it... I guess I need some developer support or something similar?
