Skim has no default keyboard layout

Bug Description

I just installed Kubuntu (Dapper Flight 6).

During installation, IIRC, I was asked which keyboard I was using and it's layout.

If the Kubuntu system has been explicitly instructed about the keyboard layout, I would expect skim to be configured to use that layout by default.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Still seems to be a (minor) problem in Kubuntu 8.10 Beta. Keyboard layout in skim defaults to "Unknown".

Is this still a problem in Intrepid stable or Jaunty development? Thanks.

FWIW:
KDE knows which keyboard I use. Kubuntu/Ubuntu install procedures actually ask about keyboard configuration. Skim will not check/fetch these values, and will be by default using an "unknown" keyboard.

Yes, this is a problem with Intrepid. Can't check with Jaunty right now. But I bet the farm it still is.

Just install skim, and go to the configuration screen to check it if you interested.

Ok, I was able to reproduce this in Jaunty as well, so we can mark it as Confirmed. Thanks for reporting this and for the follow up!
