Bug Description

Binary package hint: simple-scan

since upgrading to Natty I can no longer scan from my epson TX700W (Network) using Simple Scan.

Upon trying to scan I Get "Failed to Scan: Unable to start scan", at this point the scanner has crashed and has to be power cycled.

I have done a bit of poking around and found this only happens with Simple Scan. I can confirm that both ScanImage and Xsane work fine and I can scan with no problems.

This issue has reappeared in precise. As per before, simple scan fails and crashes my scanner. Xsane works perfectly as always.

Tim, to see if this is already resolved in Ubuntu, could you please test http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise to the results?
