Bug Description

1. release:
Ubuntu 17.10 \n \l

2. package info:
simple-scan:
  Installed: 3.26.3-0ubuntu0.17.10.0
  Candidate: 3.26.3-0ubuntu0.17.10.0
  Version table:
 *** 3.26.3-0ubuntu0.17.10.0 500
        500 http://mk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful-updates/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     3.26.1-0ubuntu1 500
        500 http://mk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/main amd64 Packages

3. When saving scan as pdf, it seems to be something wrong in the stream compression.
If saving only one scanned page, it results with pixelated image with bunch of pixels out of position
If saving multiple pages as pdf, the result is unreadable

Saving it as (loseless) png has no problems

Additional info:

worked perfect before the last update

Linux golub 4.13.0-32-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 25 09:13:46 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

lsusb output:
Bus 001 Device 029: ID 04f9:03bc Brother Industries, Ltd

MFC printer version:
Brother MFC-L2700DN

Same issue here with a Dell wireless scanner. I don't think the hardware matters, as the images are scanned fine by Simple Scan, and I can save the scanned pages individually as PNG files.

But saving them in a PDF results in a file that has parts of the scanned pages overlaying each other with some transparency. These PDF files are not usable. (This used to work fine just a few weeks ago, so some update must have messed something up.)

Simple Scan 3.20.0
Linux 4.13.0-38-generic #43~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
