Confirmed but that's not a bug, simple-ccsm doesn't work with compiz-0.9 it would need to be updated for the new compiz

As this prevents installation of simple-ccsm, should this not be marked as Critical, or at least High importance?

I have this issue too.
Seems to me it is a bug, because compiz 0.9 is in Ubuntu 11.04 , so it should not be put in then?
Updated version should be put in, or this one left out, or it should be possible to run compiz 0.8.

One solution is to remove the older or _can't install_ package from the repo, or atleast, get together to update simple-ccsm. Me too agree with Greg Auger that the importance should be marked!

Hi Sebastien (on comment #2), since Ubuntu is designed for non IT, it is supposed to be simple :

But I beleive there are few peaple able to configure compiz settings correctly with "compiz-settings-manager" (v0.9) because there are hundreds of parameters that can be changed and one can easily misconfigure the whole thing.
So it would be great if you could change the "Importance" from "Low" upto "High".
Thanks.

same problem here

and i also agreed with Seb - compiz configuration is a very scary business for newbies. and it can be messed up easily.

please re-assess your Importance for this package.

this is how people perceive the OS - by its appearance.

Looks like the only way to configure effects in 11.04 is by using Compiz configuration settings manager:
1) Install the compizconfig-settings-manager package through command line or Synaptic
2) Find it in System>Preferences>CompizConfig Settings Manager or ccsm from command line

I've always found Simple CompizConfig Settings Manager the quickest and easiest way to change the animations. I feel the compizconfig-settings-manager package is too complex for "regular" use, so I've always preferred this one.

A fix for this would be appreciated here.
